Thursday: Last day at our job site!

This morning we woke up at went to breakfast at 8:00. For breakfast we had breakfast sandwiches and potatoes. After breakfast we got ready and went to the mission site for the last day of work. Today the guys finished putting on lattice while the girls finished putting the rest of the brush and trees in the trailer. When we were done we got to hear Brittany’s (the homeowner) testimony and pray with her. After that, we went back to the church and took cold showers and got ready to go to lunch. For lunch we went to chick-fil-a. After lunch we went to a souvenir shop and then went to the Miromar outlet mall and shopped for a few hours. After shopping, we brought Monet back to the church and found a place to eat. We ate at Backwater Jacks which was delicious! After supper we went back to the church for chapel. Tonight we heard a lesson from Michael on how we can go to God as our safe place when mountains fall. The leaders then gave a skit that reminded us that God is always with us through all of our mountains and valleys. After chapel the leaders led us outside where we wrote down valleys that we have recently faced and put them in a jar so that the leaders could go through them later and pray for each of them. After we closed in prayer, we went back to our rooms and packed up a little and ended the night with a game of phase 10.

We woke up  bright and early at 8:00. We went to breakfast and had ham and cheese breakfast sandwich and diced potatoes. Then we headed to the job site. We started with a game and devo then started working. First thing we got the trailer ready for hauling branches and waste. Then the girls loaded the trailer. Meanwhile we were finishing measuring and cutting the lattice. Then everyone started to do touch ups on the lattice and cleaning the cement of paint. Right before we left we got to meet the home owner. We got to hear her testimony and she was very grateful for the work we did. Next we came back to a much needed shower. Then we went to Chick-fil-A for lunch. After that we stopped at a souvenir shop. Next we went to this gigantic outlet mall. We shopped from around 2:30  to 4:30 on the dot. Then we went to Backwater Jacks for a delicious dinner. From there we went back and went to chapel. Where Michael talked more about his testimony and that we are not to fix our problems then go to God, but to go to him with your problems. After chapel we played some Phase 10 before bed.

Sweet Bella.  A very friendly, old dog.

Looking good! To put it the words of the homeowner - "A thousand times better!"

Working on the pressure washer

Last of the debris pile was loaded in the trailer this morning!

A group pic with our leader, Monet and the home owner, Brittney (with dog Bella)

Brittney shared her testimony with us today.  In short she's had a rough few years.
After her son turned 19 she and her husband had a daughter. It was not their plan, but a blessing. They named her Myla (My little angel). Two years later, in 2018 her husband died unexpectedly. Then, last September she lost a lot when hurricane Ian came through.

Brittney was emotional when she told us we were angels sent by God. She was so thankful we came down here to help her and her daughter. It was a blessing for us to hear her story and humbling to know God used us as part of an answer to Brittney's prayer.

A last look at the home after we completed our work

Joey and I waiting for our turns in the showers. The feels like temp at this point was 115 degrees. (I love Wisconsin:)

Heading to an outlet mall

Doc's Beach House was our first choice, but since the hurricane they don't have indoor seating.  It was hot and windy so we decided to look elsewhere.

Backwater Jacks for supper

Back for worship. Kim and Daniel represented our group. Each talked about how they saw Jesus at work throughout the week.

Michael (camp director) sharing during our worship time tonight.

We wrapped up the night with some reflection time outside with our group.  After spending some time in prayer we headed inside for a couple rounds of Phase 10 before heading to bed.
