Tuesday: Day 2 on the Job

Today we woke up and headed for breakfast at 8:00. We had biscuits and gravy which was really delicious. We then packed a lunch and left for our work site. At the work site today Joey and I worked to paint the inside of a small shed in the back.  We had to prime it and then put on finishing paint. During the day the temperature was about 95 with a real feal of 113 degrees. We then went and ate at a local park and played uno as a group. After that we went back and finished our projects. We left the site at 3:30 and came back to take a cold shower. After that we had a break and then we had dinner. For dinner we ate chicken Alfredo and some bread. We then had free time and went on a Walmart run and then when we came back we had our group devotions. We talked about our identity and how we view other people. Then we went straight to chapel and continued to talk on identity. Our speaker tonight was Tia who is one of the leaders. She talked about how we should not put our identity in sports or other things that we love but put our identity in Christ. After that we had another group discussion on the chapel and the we playing spoons and other card in the mess hall.

This morning is boys woke up around 7:55 and basically went straight to breakfast due to the fact that breakfast starts at 8. When we arrived at breakfast we were welcomed with the smell of biscuits and gravy. After breakfast we got dressed and headed out to our work place. Andrew, Caleb, Mr. Hendrikse, and Mrs. Hendrikse, and I spent the first few hours chopping down something that looked like a palm tree bush with sharp edges. Mr. H and Andrew used machetes and trimmers to cut down the leaves as the rest of us carried them to a dump pile. Meanwhile the girls painted along with Daniel and Joey. Within the first few minutes Mr. H had thrown a branch at Caleb on accident as caleb had “walked into his firing range” (or whatever mr. H called it) leaving Caleb with a scar from his lip to past his nose. Eventually we headed to a park for a lunch break and enjoyed some uno. Even though some of us thought we should be playing it in a certain way and others a different way. When lunch finished we went back to work all of us painting. We eventually wrapped up and headed back. Once we got back we all showered and then us boys sat in our beds enjoying the air conditioning. Considering outside felt like 100+ degrees. Then we headed to eat dinner which consisted of something along the lines of chicken Alfredo. Afterwards our group headed to Walmart and then came back for some devotion time before chapel. After devotions we entered chapel where we talked about the woman and the well and how it connected to identity. After chapel our group enjoyed games together like spoons with our leader Monet. Then we headed back to our rooms to get some rest before the next day.
