We arrived! We just got settled in at Estero Church in the Fort Myers area. We left Oostburg this morning around 1:10 AM and headed down to Midway in Chicago for our 5:20 AM flight. The trip went well and we want to thank Kim Gartman and Shawn Kanz for getting us there safely. After arriving, we checked our bags and then gathered off on the side somewhere to have some Big Apple Bagels we brought along. We read we wouldn't be able to get our cream cheese through security, so we ate before heading to our gate.
Our flight left on time, but nobody remembers much about the flight as we were all so tired and spent much of the flight sleeping. After we arrived in Fort Myers we got our bags and then headed off to find our minivans. Kim and I went through Turo for the first time on this trip. Let me tell you this is the way to go. We walked out of baggage claim, found our vehicles waiting for us in the parking lot, loaded up and left. This was definitely better than waiting in line for a couple of hours to get our vehicle.
At this point it was 9:30 in the morning and check-in time wasn't until 5:00 PM. So, we drove over to the church to check it out, headed out for breakfast at a little place connected to a gas station (Next Stop Brunch). The breakfast sandwiches were actually amazing. We hung out for awhile and then made the decision to head over to Bonita Beach for the day.
The beach wasn't much. There were no places to get snacks, go to the bathroom or shower/rinse off, but the water was like bathwater (a little different than Lake Michigan!). We layered on the sunscreen and hung out for a few hours before getting ice-cream and heading over to the church.
We were able to get in a little early and get situated. We are thankful for the AC, because it is really hot! We hung out for awhile before heading to Zaxby's (recommended) for some chicken.
By the time we got back, the other couple groups had arrived and we introduced ourselves and headed over to worship shortly before 8:00 PM. We read out of 1 Kings 19 and we considered God's work in our lives and how it doesn't always go how we want or expect. Sometimes his answers come in soft whispers - not always loud and clear.
There was a little hang out time afterwards, but for the most part we were shot and headed off to sleep. I am finishing this up in the AM as I ran out of steam last night.
We are heading into breakfast and then out to do some lattice work and painting! Thank you for your prayers!!
